Candy Corn Nails!
This is something I've talked about doing for a while now. Maybe it's a little early... but I don't care :)
I started with three...THREE coats of China Glaze's Solar Power. I wish there was such a thing as an opaque yellow because that's what caused this to not look exactly like I wanted! The orange is China Glaze Papaya Punch, the most perfect candy corn orange. And the tips are just a basic Sinful white.
Overall I DO like the way this turned out, but there were just TOO many layers of polish on my nails. Theoretically I probably should've used tape for guidelines since I just winged it, but I didn't have the time or patience for tape. It was difficult to only paint half way down the nail though. I guess it still works though because the lines where colors meet on real candy corn aren't perfectly straight!
What do you think of this fall look? Something you'd wear? I want to chew my nails! Om nom nom. I always forget how much I love fall :)

ReplyDeleteThis is really cute! I like how it turned out - and for freehand your lines are very neat. :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE THIS! I attempted to do this but it didn't turn out so good. I also used Solar Power & Papaya Punch! Papaya punch is my fav. color for Halloween orange :)
ReplyDeleteWOW! I love this!!! your nails are the perfect shape to pull this off!! I'll have to wait until mine grow out a bit more before I try it ahah
ReplyDeleteI think for not taping your nails, this looks pretty awesome :-) Makes me hungry for candy corn, lol.
ReplyDeleteI love this look. It is an awesome fall look and I love candy corn. Your free hand design is great and I think it is even. I am so going to try this!
ReplyDeleteVery cute!
ReplyDeleteSay, how many coats of Sinful White did you have to use?
I'm constantly on the lookout for a decent opaque white, and haven't tried Sinful's yet.
i love this mani.. its a must try!
ReplyDelete@Meme: I think this was about two - three. It's not very opaque. Pure Ice's white and Zoya's white are both pretty good though, might want to check those out!
ReplyDeleteVery cute, I love Halloween manis!
ReplyDeleteThat turned out so cute! And I can never get tape to work for me, either!
ReplyDeleteI was never a fan of the taste of candy corn-but I always know its fall when they start appearing!!! Yay fall!

Have a nice day:)

Love this! But my nails are totally too short to successfully pull it off. My bff and I went to the mall today and Claire's sells fake nails in this exact design. She was tempted to buy them and I was like "Uh, no. I'll do your nails like that for free." And then I came home and saw your post! :D
ReplyDeleteI have two yellows in my stash right now and I think both would work for one coat: Sally Hensen Xtreme in Mellow Yellow and Revlon Top Speed in Electric. I think Electric would probably work best though!
ReplyDeleteSuper cute! Perfect for the season!
